Welcome to the Somerset School of Hypnotherapy

Hypnotherapy training in Somerset since 2014. Small groups, accredited diploma, ongoing support, CPD workshops, and a warm, grounded place to learn the work.
We provide a learning space where compassionate and curious people can explore powerful hypnotherapy techniques. You will discover how to help others heal while transforming your own life along the way.
Since opening our doors, we have welcomed students from across Somerset and beyond who were seeking more purpose, meaning and freedom. Many of our graduates have gone on to build successful hypnotherapy practices, gain new confidence and make a real difference in their communities. We have been there with them every step of the journey, not only during their hypnotherapy diploma training but well beyond.

All our courses run from 10 am to 4.30 pm, Monday to Friday, in a relaxed and friendly learning environment designed to support your growth and confidence.

Here are some of the most common questions we are asked. If your question is not listed, please get in touch and we will be happy to help.
Do I need to take notes during the course?
No, there is no need to take notes unless you want to. You will receive a full training manual, sent electronically upon completion of your course, so you can stay present and fully focused during your sessions.
Will I get a chance to practise what I have learned?
Yes, absolutely. Whatever hypnotherapy training course you choose, you will receive plenty of hands-on experience in our real therapy rooms. You will have the chance to practise techniques with your fellow students, gain live feedback from your tutor, and build real confidence. There is simply no substitute for practical experience.
What about lunch?
You will have access to a constant supply of tea, including herbal and fruit teas, coffee, and biscuits throughout the day. While lunch is not provided, there is a small kitchenette with a kettle, fridge, and microwave for your use. As we are based in a lovely but slightly rural location, we recommend bringing your lunch each day.
Is there parking at your school?
Yes, there is free on-site parking for up to 20 cars, so you do not need to worry about finding a space.
I have experienced trauma and I am worried about opening up
You are not alone. Many of our students come with life experiences such as trauma, loss, or personal struggles, and many go on to become exceptional therapists because of it.
This is a safe, confidential, and supportive space. The therapies you will practise may bring emotions to the surface, and that is completely normal. Healing is often part of the learning journey. If you have any concerns, you are welcome to speak privately with Steve or Lindsey. We have supported students with a wide range of challenges including anxiety, grief, and complex PTSD, and we are here to support you too.

I am not comfortable with physical contact
That is absolutely fine. Although some therapies can feel emotionally intimate, there is no requirement to use physical touch. We teach both hands-on and hands-off techniques. For example, Lindsey herself prefers not to use touch during Reiki sessions and has successfully treated hundreds of people this way.
Your comfort will always be respected.
I have a phobia and I am worried it will get in the way
Please do not let a fear stop you from reaching out. If you have a specific phobia or concern, just let us know. We have helped many students work through personal challenges, and because our hypnotherapy diploma courses are taught in small groups, we can often adapt the learning to meet your individual needs.
We can always talk things through and find a way forward together.
